Inside the Legislative Process (ILP) is a comparative reference to legislative procedure across the states, maintained by legislative professionals. It converts ASLCS survey data into a searchable, continuously verified knowledge base: every answer preserves its historical survey record while carrying a current status and a last-checked date.

Updating your chamber's information

If you work for a legislative chamber and see missing, outdated, or incorrect information — on your state's page or on Chambers Needing Updates — we welcome corrections and confirmations.

When writing, please include your chamber, the topic and question, and the current answer. Updates are recorded with the date of confirmation and your chamber's records are refreshed across the site automatically.

About the data

Survey responses are stored as individual records identified by chamber, survey section, and answer (e.g., S002-U003-A020). Source survey responses are never altered; verification happens through the current-status fields. See each topic page for national comparisons and the chambers whose answers still need confirmation.
